5 Essential Ways To Improve Your SEO

Updated: Apr 16

SEO

We all want to be noticed, but in a time when information is at our fingertips at the click of a button, it’s hard to stand out.

The competition is even worse when your income depends on it.

But how can you get noticed when your pages don’t appear on Google?

If you own a company, knowing how to improve your SEO can help boost your business and give your webpage the attention it deserves.

How To Improve SEO?

Make Quality Content

The best thing you can do to improve your SEO is to have quality content. But what does that mean exactly?

The Google algorithm analyzes content by understanding the context of the web page. The more context you give your page, the more confident it is in its ability to recommend it as a search result.

You can do this by being clear about your message. Instead of keyword stuffing, focus on one keyword or phrase you are targeting and repeat it throughout your page. You can even highlight the ante with bold letters or italics.

Keep It Relevant

Search engines are always looking for the newest information. You should remind them that your pages are relevant by keeping them updated.

This can be done by creating a blog or posting reviews. Whatever you decide, keeping a schedule to ensure it’s being updated regularly would be a good idea.

Use Metadata

There are three types of metadata you can use to improve your SEO.

The first is the title tag or the headline. This is the most important type of metadata. The title is the first thing users see in the search results and should include targeted keywords.

The second is the metadata description. A metadata description is a short summary of your web page that is shown underneath the title. On some search engines, the description is not always shown, but it’s still important to have.

The description should be no more than two sentences long, and an accurate synopsis should be provided to persuade readers to click on it.

The third metadata is the keywords tagged in the HTML hyperlink. This is not often used to calculate SEO, but it doesn’t hurt to include it, especially since you already know your target keywords.

Include Links

An easy way to improve SEO is through internal and external links.

When you mention an outside source or brand, you can use external links to tag them on your site. By using external links, you are giving your website more context by telling the algorithm that the relevant page is something you want to be associated with. This will boost your rankings and the rankings of the linked site.

Internal links are when you link a web page to another relevant page on your site. This gives your site structure and a hierarchy between the pages.

Either way, your anchor text, or the text that can be clicked on to use the link, should be descriptive and can be another opportunity to include keywords.

Tag Your Visuals

If you have videos or images, use alt tags to describe them. By doing this, search engines can better understand your page’s content.

If you take away anything, context is key. Writing accurate and relevant content is the best way for search engines to grasp what your brand is about. The more they know about you, the better your chances of getting a higher rating.
